Education
The nerawraw patterns of education have not changed the standard of education of tribal children of this area. The language of textbook cannot match with local colloquial Gujarati and Hindi language of this area. Children have to give time to do odd jobs like to graze cattle, to collect fuel, to look after small babies. MoreoverMoreover, in some villages the distance of primary school is very farlong from their houses. So, the female education rate is very low. There is need of support for universal education for poor and needy children of the age group of 3 to 14 years. Organization has madeke some efforts to improve the condition are school enrolment of all school going children, parents’ awareness, networking between schools, parents and panchayats, capacity building of SMC and support to Government school for develop activity-based learning materials. Our training program on education includes a strong component of building life skills among children using a wide range of innovative and interactive tools of creative learning, exploration and analysis.
01. Awareness campaign for school enrollment
SMUT organized an awareness campaign to address school dropouts among girls in Poshina block. The campaign involved door-to-door contact with parents, emphasizing the importance of education for girls and its long-term benefits. SMUT's team engaged in conversations, providing relevant information and dispelling misconceptions. The objective was to remove barriers hindering girls' enrollment and empower parents to support their daughters' education, fostering development in the tribal community.
02. Engagement of Parents & Communities
SMUT creates awareness among parents in 10 villages of Poshina block. Through dialogues and sessions, they stress parental support and community involvement in children's education. Collaborating with the Panchayat and SMC, SMUT aims to enhance the educational experience. Support networks are encouraged for sharing best practices. The goal is to foster a strong partnership between parents, leaders, and educational institutions, nurturing children's growth, and potential. Mobilizing the entire community, SMUT instills a sense of responsibility for every child's education, contributing to Poshina block's overall development.
03. Activity Based Learning
The modules for classes 1 to 5 include activity-based participatory learning techniques such as games, role plays, drama, drawing, and reflections. These methods are employed to teach in a non-threatening atmosphere, engaging the students effectively. The primary focus is on ensuring that all children master basic reading and numeracy skills by class 1 and 2, and develop critical thinking, expression, and problem-solving abilities by class 5. This activity is periodically implemented in different schools across Poshina of Gujarat and Kotda block of Rajasthan to enhance the learning experience of the students.
